Ribolla Gialla Friuli Colli Orientali DOC La Viarte
Documented as early as 1299, Ribolla Gialla is perhaps the oldest grape variety of Friuli and whose spread has been very successful in the hills, on the leanest and most dry soils. La Viarte's Ribolla Gialla is a great Friulian white wine that well represents the expression of this vine. After a manual harvest and a soft pressing, fermentation is carried out in steel at 16 C. The wine matures for 7 months on fine lees in steel tanks and refines at least 1 month in bottle.
La Viarte's Ribolla Gialla has a bright straw-yellow colour and it opens up to the nose with a broad and fresh scent of citrus zest, thyme and white peach. Its flavour is full, delicately sapid and fresh, with a good acidity and structure, which are typical of Ribolla. We suggest serving it at 10-12 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Viarte's Ribolla Gialla pairs very well with starters and first courses of vegetables, seafood, delicate steamed or grilled fish, and fresh cheese. Excellent with "sclopit frittata" (Friulian dish), velvety risotto with spring buds, sea bass carpaccio, steamed sea bream with hollandaise sauce.
