Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Còlpetrone
Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG by Còlpetrone is a great powerful long-lived red wine from native grapes 100% Sagrantino. After the harvest, the crushed grapes ferment in steel tanks for 15 days at a controlled temperature of 24-28 °C, with daily pumpings over and délestages. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the maceration period continues, bringing the temperature to 29 °C. The wine is transferred to French oak barrels for 12 months, where it will undergo malolactic fermentation, refining further 6 months of bottle after a brief passage in stainless steel vats.
It has an almost impenetrable, intense, ruby-red colour. Ample aromas of red fruits, particularly fine spices and vanilla scents. The flavour is decisive, powerful, with an evident tannic concentration in its first years of life. Its aging potential is estimated up to 15 years. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18 °C in large glasses.
