Brunello di Montalcino DOCG La Poderina
La Poderina Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a great red suitable for aging, made from Sangiovese Grosso, the highest expression of Montalcino winemaking tradition. In the vineyards of the south-east slope of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, the harvest is carried out manually, depending on the plot. The grapes ferment in steel for 15 days at a controlled temperature of 24-28 °C with daily pumpings over and délestages. After alcoholic fermentation and a post-fermentative maceration at 29 °C, the wine is transferred to French oak barriques and large barrels for malolactic fermentation, with weekly batonnages for about 4 months. It is aged for another 20 months in barriques and in Slavonian oak barrels, plus another 24 months in the bottle.
Brunello La Poderina has an intense ruby-red colour with garnet undertones. It seduces for its enchanting ethereal aromas, characterized by black cherry, wild berries and vanilla notes. The flavour is firm, rather tannic in youth, but soft and persistent in the finish. Its aging potential is estimated up to 15 years. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18 °C in a large glass, taking care to open the bottle at least half an hour before serving.
