Rosso di Valtellina DOC
Rosso di Valtellina is known as the simplest of the Valtellina range of wines. Thi bottle produced by Nino Negri winery is obtained mainly from Nebbiolo grapes (known locally as chiavennasca) grown on the typical terraces of Valtellina, and other minor native grapes (10% Rossola, Pignola e Brugnola). The ripe grapes, picked between the beginning and the middle of October, are traditionally vinified by the red wine method with 8 days maceration of the skins. Maturation: the new wine stays in steel tanks for 3 months, and is then transferred to wooden casks for 2 months.
Rosso di Valtellina Nino Negri shows a ruby red colour, clean, vinous bouquet, with a fine fragrance of small fruits of the forest, sweet spices and delicate notes of dried roses and violets. Dry, fruity and pleasantly tannic flavour, with an elegant aftertaste of liquorice. We suggest to serve it at a temperature 16-18 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
It is advisable to drink it young, pairing with first courses, mixed boiled meats (bolliti misti) and white meats.
Chosen for you
Valtellina wine-grower and producer Nino Negri is a perfect combination of tradition and technology. To ensure top-quality results, Nino Negri must invest continuously and significantly in our vineyards and cellar. Today, the cellar houses 1500 new barriques of French and American oak and they have substituted the big old barrels with over 100 smaller barrels to permit a greater selection of the wines. The stainless steel vats and fermentation vessels have also been replaced recently and allow Nino Negri to implement new wine-making systems.
