Fratelli Serio e Battista Borgogno's Barolo Classico is a Piedmontese red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, cultivated in the small village of Novello, a very high wine-vocation area. Grapes are harvested by hand in October. Bunches macerate with cap of about 15-20 days in wooden vats, with frequent pumping over. Malolactic fermentation takes place in steel barrels, while ageing in barrels of 2500-5000 liters of Slavonian oak. The time of wood aging is variable and follows the needs of the individual vintages. Then, the wine is bottled, getting ready for further six month bottle ageing.
Barolo Classico has a ruby red colour in its youth and more garnet colour with age. Delicate aromas of red fruits, which evolve into elegant spicy notes with aging. Round with smooth tannins, red fruit prevails, closing in a long and pleasant finish. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18-20 °C in a large glass, opening a few moments before.
