Pietramora Romagna Sangiovese Riserva Marzeno DOC
Pietramora is a Romagna Sangiovese DOC Riserva produced by Fattoria Zerbina and obtained from Sangiovese grapes and, in some years, Ancellotta (maximum 3%) grown on the hills of Marzeno, near Faenza. Among the red wines of this company, Pietramora is the one that reflects the vintage character bettern than the others. Starting from the 2011 harvest, its name shows on the label the name of the sub-area to which it belongs, that of Marzeno, as amended by the regulations.
The grapes are subjected to vinification in 500-liter French oak tonneaux for two weeks, with fulling and manual re-filling, part in medium-capacity steel tanks with 15-21 days maceration. The wine then ages in French oak barrels (20% new) for 12 months.
Deep ruby red colour. Aromas of small red fruits are associated with spicy, earthy and slightly boisée notes. In the mouth it is powerful, warm and dynamic; excellent tannins combined with light sapidity, very long and persistent in the finish. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Pietramora Romagna Sangiovese Riserva Marzeno DOC combines perfectly with white and wild meat: lamb chops, rabbit, chicken.
Located just a few miles from the city of Faenza, Fattoria Zerbina vineyards extend around the operative center of the property and, more exactly, on the hillsides to the west of the Marzeno river and the village of Marzeno itself.
