Marzieno Ravenna Rosso IGT
Marzieno has over the years built its own personality and above all its own credibility, so as to be over the years among the few red wines of Emilia Romagna able to compete with the best Italian reds of its type. Starting from the 2001 harvest, while continuing to maintain a solid framework given by Sangiovese, the Marzieno blend saw the introduction, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, of other varieties such as Syrah and Merlot: Sangiovese (60-80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10-20%), Merlot and Syrah (20-40%).
The grapes vinify part in 500-liter French oak tonneaux for two weeks with fulling and manual reassembling, part in medium-capacity steel tanks with 15-21 days maceration. The wine obtained is then refined in French oak barrels (20% new) and in a small percentage also of American and Hungarian oak (10%) for twelve months.
Deep ruby red. On the nose, small black fruits with hints of cherries in spirit and spices, tobacco and chocolate. On the palate, mellow fruity notes; enveloping and velvety tannins, it is powerful but always balanced by a good freshness. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18 °C.
