Rosso di Montalcino DOC Col D'Orcia BIO Magnum
Rosso di Montalcino, the young cousin to Brunello, is an easy drinking and lively Sangiovese. Col D'Orcia's Rosso di Montalcino is a delicious, everyday drinking Tuscan Sangiovese, which is released one year after the harvest so as to retain all the freshness and fruitiness of a young wine and at the same time the intensity that only the Montalcino terroir is capable of offering.
Fermentation on grape skins for about 10-12 days at controlled temperatures below 28 °C in very deep and superficial steel tanks (150 hl) to obtain delicate tannins and color extraction. Aging about 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels between 75 and 150 hl, followed by refinement in the bottle. It is an ORGANIC wine since the vintage 2013.
Deep ruby red with violet hues, the bouquet is intense, fruity and elegant, the evident hints of ripe red fruits (blackberry and raspberry) are perfectly balanced with the pleasant oak scents originated by the ageing in the barrels. Good structure, warm and full-bodied, with soft elegant tannins. Long and persistent pleasant fruity aftertaste. We suggest to serve it at 18 °C.

Col d’Orcia is one of the oldest established wineries of Montalcino. The archaeological excavations show that the slopes of Orcia River were inhabited since the Etruscans, over 2500 years ago. Some olive trees among the Brunello vineyards prove all favourable conditions of Col d'Orcia’s climate and soil for growing grapes and olives.
