Pinot Grigio Toscana IGT Col D'Orcia
Col d'Orcia's Pinot Grigio is a Tuscan white wine from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes grown on the hill of Sant'Angelo, in Montalcino, on three different vineyards well exposed to the south. The grapes are harvested manually, with rigorous selection of the bunches in the early morning hours to avoid excessively high temperatures. After cooling at 8-10 °C and subsequent soft pressing with separation of the free-run must, the grapes ferments in steel for 10-12 days at a temperature of 16-18 °C. The wines is bottled immediately, to preserve the fresh aromas.
Straw yellow with greenish undertones with an intense and fragrant bouquet, with white fruits notes, sush as pear, combined with hints of white flowers. On the palate it is fresh and elegant, highlighting well-mixed fruity flavours with a good acid vein. Pleasant and persistent aftertaste. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 10-12 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Col d'Orcia's Pinot Grigio is an excellent white wine to pair with seafood or vegetables risottos, white meat, prosciutto or it can be served fresh as an aperitif.
Col d’Orcia is one of the oldest established wineries of Montalcino. The archaeological excavations show that the slopes of Orcia River were inhabited since the Etruscans, over 2500 years ago. Some olive trees among the Brunello vineyards prove all favourable conditions of Col d'Orcia’s climate and soil for growing grapes and olives.
