Il Falcone Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva DOCG
Il Falcone Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva DOCG is a red wine from Puglia produced by Rivera winery and for almost 40 vintages it has been considered an iconic wine for the Apulian oenology. Il Falcone expresses the great oenological potential of Castel del Monte area and of its main native grape variety, Nero di Troia, which gives structure and character, combined with other local varieties that contribute to its harmony. The harvest is usually carried out in mid-October and the grapes macerates for about 15 days at 28 °C with frequent pumpings over. The wine is aged in French oak, 50% in barriques and 50% in 30 hl barrels, for at least 14 months. After bottling, the refinement continues for another year in the bottle.
Complex, elegant and austere wine that best expresses the great potential of Nero di Troia. It has a dense and intense red colour. The bouquet is complex, composed by ripe red fruits, leather, tobacco and spices aromas. The palate is rich, austere, very lenghty on the finish, but well-balanced. If well preserved, this wine has great aging capacity, estimated up to 10-12 years. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18-20 °C, taking care to uncork the bottle before serving.

Chosen for you
Rivera winery was founded by Sebastiano de Corato in the late 1940s, inspired by a vision of realising, and bringing to the world's attention, the enormous viticultural potential of the Castel del Monte area. Widespread recognition quickly followed, and Rivera became the benchmark of Apulia wine production and the force driving its rebirth, thanks as well to innovations in both winemaking and vineyards introduced by his son Carlo.
