In order to obtain a wine that would best represent the great potential of Lazio viticulture, Falesco decided to focus its attention on the Syrah variety. The treatment of individual plants, with particular reference to the training system and to a limited production, allow the winery to obtain grapes of great balance, in terms of sugar, as well as phenolic characters. In 2009, the year of its 30th anniversary, the company successfully presents this new Tellus Syrah. The image has always been linked to the world of art and its label was born at an event held at Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, during which a group of artists reported on Canvas impressions of enthusiasts and wine lovers' tastings.
Immediately after harvesting and pressing, a cold pre-maceration takes place for 4 to 5 days at a temperature of 18-20 °C. This technique enhances the natural freshness and fragrance of Syrah. Subsequently, fermentation is carried out at a temperature of 25-27 °C and the wine is transferred into second-stage barriques for a period of 5 months, where malolactic fermentation also takes place.
From its intense colour with purple undertones, on the nose its scent is enhanced by hints of fresh fruit, cherry with spicy notes that blend with great balance and elegance to those of sweet and vanilla expressed from the wood. The taste is enveloping, silky, with soft and enduring tannins, characterized by a rich and persistent finish. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 14-18 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Tellus Syrah is very versatile and is well matched with grilled or stewed meat, whether it is white or red. Great with lamb, wild boar and game. It is also interesting to combine this wine with seasoned and spicy cheeses, or flavored with black pepper or saffron.

The Falesco Winery was established in Montefiascone (Lazio) in 1979 by Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella, both oenologists and deeply rooted in this territory between Lazio and Umbria regions. Renzo Cotarella is the CEO of the Antinori Group and Riccardo Cotarella is a winemaker consultant for more than 80 wineries around the world and President of the Union Internationale des Oenologues. Retrieving historical wines and isolating old clones with matchless aroma and organoleptic value, in particular Roscetto, was considered of paramount importance among the initial goals.
