Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Scacciadiavoli
The Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG produced by Scacciadiavoli is a full-bodied red that represents the Sagrantino grape variety. The harvest is carried out in the second half of October. After a fermentation of about 3-4 weeks in French oak vats at a constant temperature below 30 °C, 50% of the wine evolves in barriques, of which 10% are new and the rest is 2nd and 3rd passage. The remaining 50% in 30 hl French oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months. It completes its aging in the bottle for another 12 months.
Deep colour, sensual bouquet and vigorous body. Wine whose refinement is appreciated when young, when fruit and spices blend with the taste of wood, in which Sagrantino has been elevated. But it is after a few years that its success is fully appreciated, when balsamic notes intervene and the tannins soften it turns out a wine with a great personality. Montefalco Sagrantino lends itself to long aging: 20 and more years. We suggest serving it at 18-19 °C.

In 1954 Amilcare Pambuffetti (at the age of 71) acquired the estate of Scacciadiavoli.
It was the estate where as a boy, at the age of 14 years, he worked as an apprentice.
