Collepiano Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG
The Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Collepiano of Arnaldo Caprai winery is a symbol of the new wine winemaking reality of Montefalco. Produced by 100% Sagrantino grapes, Sagrantino is an ancient vine from Umbria brought here, according to certain historians, by followers of St.Francis of Assisi in the Middle Ages and Collepiano represents the renaissances of Montefalco as a wine region and the Sagrantino as a unique variety grown only in Montefalco.
The name "Collepiano" recalls the gentle slopes that characterize these hills.The wine is aged 22 months in French oak barrels and at least 6 months in bottle and can reach 10-15 years of aging potential before tasting.
It has a deep red color; at the nose it expresses blackberry jam, pepper, clove and vanilla, a balsamic note and a touch of blush notes. The taste is powerful, yet elegant, great tannin that makes think about the future. It is suggested to be served at a temperature between 18-20 °C.
