Torre d’Orti winery owned by the Piona family is located on the hills of Marcellise above San Martino Buonalbergo, a few kilometers east from Verona, one of the most suitable areas in Italy for the production of great red wines. The Piona family stands out in the area to be at the helm of other wine-making companies in Veneto and Lombardy: the Cavalchina winery in Custoza and the Prendina winery in Monzambano. Torre d’Orti is situated on the ridge overlooking Marcellise and from here it enjoys an incomparable view over the surrounding area. Here, the altitude and the terroir characterized by an excellent combination of the typical red soil of Valpolicella and white calcareous rocks, contribute to the production of red wines for aging of great tannic structure and fleshy elegance.
Torre d'Orti Growns the traditional Valpolicella grapes in the vineyards: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta. The winery operates in a balanced combination of tradition and innovation, knowing that technology is a fundamental help, but that the authenticity of the wines is an essential result as well. This philosophy is demonstrated in the Torre d'Orti red wines, among which the Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso and an Amarone della Valpolicella stand out, representing the 3 fundamental Pionas values: soil, grape variety and winemaking. A family in close contact with the world of wine, where nothing is left to chance, because producing quality labels is an art that requires passion, ability and patience.
