One of the historical families in Valpolicella, Speri is an important and faithful exponent of the wines of the Valpolicella Classica zone and has also become, thanks to the firm's consistency and its intimate links with its area of origin, an authoritative point of reference within the Italian wine scene.Times have changed and the company has grown, but it still remains in the hands of the family, which can now boast of being in its seventh generation.
The company's history began in the first half of the nineteenth century, with just a few hectares next to the Speris' family home. Over the course of the years, the company has invested in new properties in the top-quality areas of Valpolicella Classica, so that it now owns 60 hectares. With due respect for their region's heritage, the Speris have always cultivated only indigenous varieties of the Valpolicella zone. They also vinify grapes exclusively from their own vineyards and control the entire production process, from the vineyard to the bottle. From their attention to the rhythms of nature stems the decision not to produce their most prestigious wine, Amarone, in less favourable years. Also, in order to highlight the particular characteristics of each site, the grapes from each vineyard are vinified separately, thus yielding the Crus such as La Roverina, Monte Sant'Urbano and La Roggia, which are named after their vineyards of origin. After many years of sustainable agriculture from the 2015 the company obtains the organic certification.
SPERI Winery is a member of the Amarone Families. Amarone d'Arte is a product of the expertise and know-how of historic, committed producers with strong traditions and roots in the Valpolicella. The Amarone Families share values, methods and objectives aimed at safeguarding the nobility of this great wine.
