Fonte Del Re Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC
"Fonte del Re" is a landmark that indicates the place where an ancient spring flowed near Morro d'Alba, the town on the Marche hills, which gives the name to the DOC classification since 1985. "Lacrima" (which means "tear") it is so called for the typical "drop" shape of the cluster, when the grape has come to its full ripeness. This is a grape variety known since long time, saved from extinction and today it is cultivated in a very small production area around Morro d'Alba (AN), about 15 km from the Adriatic Sea.
This Fonte Del Re Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC produced by Umani Ronchi winery is a very delicate and particularly vinous wine. After an alcoholic and malolactic fermentation of up to 10 days in steel, at a temperature of 24 °C, the wine ages in stell for about 4 months, followed by a short refinement in the bottle before being on the market.
It has an intense ruby red colour with clear purple undertones. On the nose there is a delicate and distinctive vinous aroma of roses, violets and aromatic berries. Dry and warm flavour, with clear but not sharp tannins. Soft and rather round on the palate, it shows good body and persistence. We recommend serving it at a 15 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Thinking of the typical Umbrian cuisine, Fonte Del Re Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC pairs well with the typical Umbrian salami called "ciauscolo", Fabriano's cold cuts, first courses with ragù (meat sauce), and white meats. It can also be combined with fish appetizers or "carpione" marinated fish. Great even with medium aged cheese.
