San Basso Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC
San Basso is a Rosso Piceno Superiore DOC wine produced by Tenuta Cocci Grifoni winery, obtained from 55% Montepulciano and 45% Sangiovese grapes. The territory where Cocci Grifoni's vineyards are located are characterized by the typical "calanchi" (cove/gully zone) and by a microclimate that makes these habitats ideal places for viticulture, thanks to the intense temperature range and the great availability of rainwater that is collected in depth valley according to the natural life cycle of the waters.
After a manual harvest in the first ten days of October with selection of the bunches in the vineyard, must vinifies with maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature of no more than 28 °C. Matured in Slavonian oak barrels of 40/50 hl for 12 months, the wine refines in the bottle for at least 4 months.
San Basso Rosso Piceno Superiore has a garnet colour with orange hues, limpid and lively. The nose is intense, fruity: a bouquet of freshly dried red flowers and sour-cherries, wild strawberries, licorice, aromatic herbs, balsamic and rhubarb notes. Good entry into the mouth; it is immediately warm, fresh and savory with good, evolved and well-balanced tannin structure. The finish is long and pleasant. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 19 °C.
