I Sodi di San Niccolò is the flagship wine of the winery Castellare di Castellina and it is very often in the world Top 100 of Wine Spectator international wine guide, winning also Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso and Cinque Grappoli Bibenda awards. Pride of the company, this great Super Tuscan shows the greatness of Sangiovese (85-90%) together with Malvasia Nera (15-10%). The grapes are cultivated in the vineyards of the winery in Castellina in Chianti (SI) and they are harvested in the middle of October. The wine making process takes place in steel, while the first refinement in 50% new barriques, for about 24 to 30 months. the wine completes its ageing in the bottle for the next 12 months.
Intense ruby red colour with a great olfactory concentration, thanks to the presence of ripe red fruit essences that brings back notes of jam, but also spices, vanilla and licorice. In the mouth the wine presents a dense and elegant structure, which is supported by the important acidity of Sangiovese grape. The tannins are absolutely sweet. The wine has a very long finish, with great persistence. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16-18 °C.
