Rosso di Montepulciano DOC Poliziano
Rosso di Montepulciano produced by the Tuscan winery Poliziano is a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot grapes. For the production of this wine, Poliziano has selected some vineyards with peculiar characteristics, in order to obtain a young, fruity, full bodied red wine. Fermentation takes place in conical stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with punching down and pumping over. Fermentation and maceration last for 10-12 days, after which 20-40% of the obtained wine is aged for about 8 months in wood and the remaining in the tanks.
The colour is an intense and brilliant ruby red, a rather interesting olfactory profile, plum and black cherry are the main fruity notes evident at the opening, followed by blueberry, raspberry and blackberry and slight floral feelings like violet. On the palate, there is a slightly mineral background with soft herbaceous nuances. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16-18 °C. This red Tuscan wine has an estimated aging capacity of 3-5 years.
