Ornello Maremma Toscana DOC
Ornello Maremma Toscana DOC is a Tuscan red wine obtained from a blend of different grapes: 40% Sangiovese, 20% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Created as a tribute to the "butteri" (kind of cowboys from Maremma) that a true symbol of Maremma land, Ornello is a strong and elegant wine at the same time. "Ornello" is the name of the long pointed stick, with which the cattle was moved. It is characterized by a substantial percentage of Syrah grapes, harvested together with Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon in September, and from a part of Merlot grapes, harvested towards the end of August. In this way, the blend makes the must very full and rich in stucture, while maintaining the elegance and freshness typical of Rocca di Frassinello wines. The wine making process takes place in steel, followed by 6-months refinement in 50% new barriques and further 5 months in the bottle.
Intense ruby red colour that opens to the nose with light balsamic and roasted coffee notes. On the palate you can perceive hints of undergrowth and a soft and velvety tannin. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 16-18 °C.
