Mongris Pinot Grigio Collio DOC Riserva
Pinot Grigio Riserva Mongris is one of the most famous wines of the Friulian winery Marco Felluga, obtained from 100% Pinot Grigio grown in the small village of Farra d'Isonzo, in the DOC Collio area, at an altitude of 80 meters above sea level. The name "Mongris" comes from the contraction of the words "monovitigno" (one grape type) and Pinot Grigio ("Gris" in Friulian dialect).
After harvesting the grapes are separated from the rasp. The juice and the pulp undergo a cold maceration, then a soft-pressing that allows the separation from the skins. 30% of the must is fermented in oak barrels of 5 hl, the rest in steel tanks. The wine is left to rest about 2 years on the yeast and a few months in the bottle.
It has golden yellow colour with slight copper hints. The sharp and immediate bouquet envelops the glass with intense aromas of acacia flowers, broom and apple, mixed with the sweetness of bread crust and vanilla. The taste is characterized by an elegant fruity, full-bodied, well-structured, a remarkably long finish with sapid vein. In the final it is very persistent, salinity is outstanding. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 12 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
This PInot Grigio vinifies with contact with yeasts for a long time, then it is quite complex and full of flavours. The ideal food matching combinations are rich and elaborate dishes, such as risotto, roasted white meats or even cheeses.
Chosen for you
More than a century has passed, since the first Felluga crossed his history with wine. The island of Istria was the place of origin of Malvasia and Refosco d'Istria productions. Just after the Great War, the family get to the other side of the gulf, to Grado and then in Friuli.
