Terra di Lavoro Campania IGT
Terra di Lavoro wine is a red wine from Campania, produced by Galardi winery. In 1993 the potential of the volcanic soil on the slopes of the Roccamonfina volcano, together with the partnership of Riccardo Cotarella (famous Italian oenologist and great estimator of the recovery and enhancement of Italian Southern grape varieties) originates Terra di Lavoro. Since the beginning, this wine amazed and intrigued many wine lovers, showing itsself as a great Italian red wine.
Terra di lavoro is a brilliant blend of Aglianico 80% and Piedirosso 20% grapes. After the harvest, grapes macerate in contact with their skins for about 20 days, with daily punchings down. Malolactic fermentation is carried out entirely in steel containers. The wine is aged in new barrels of Allier and Never for 12 months.
The map that characterizes the label is an ancient map dated back to 1700 and it represents the area of Southern Italy during the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, called precisely "Land of Work", in italian "Terra di Lavoro".
Terra di lavoro shows a deep red, dense and veined colour. Clean, balsamic, incisive and complex aromas. Long and lively, it never tires its tasting. You can smell plum, black cherry, a note of grass mixed with balsamic and pepper essences. The taste gives beautiful places here: forest, volcano, sun and shade. The tannins are vibrant and intense, but soft in their borders. A pulpy, material, rich wine. Backbone of Terra di Lavoro is always the inevitable mineral note and the endless persistence, which give this wine a balanced acidity and an excellent overall harmony. Great satisfaction while tasting it. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16-18 °C, taking care to uncork the bottle before serving.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
The ideal food-matching suggestion for Terra di Lavoro is red meat, especially grilles lamb. It is excellent also when paired with roasted meat, first courses with meat sauce, as well as stewed wild boar and casserole feathered game.
Galardi winery is located on the slopes of Roccamonfina volcano, in Campania and it is run personally by the owners, who founded it in 1991, relying on the consulting of the famous Italian oenologist Riccardo Cotarella. The first intervention concerned the recovery of old vineyards and later the construction of new plants.
