Fratelli Serio and Battista Borgogno's Barbaresco is a Piedmontese red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Neive area. The must undergoes submerged cap fermentation for about 12-15 days in wooden vats, with frequent pumping over. Malolactic fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in steel. The wine is aged in 25-50 hl Slavonian oak barrels, with a variable duration depending on the needs of the individual vintages, and about 6 months in the bottle.
Barbaresco has an intense and elegant garnet red colour with notes tending to orange due to aging. Floral scents reminiscent of rose and geranium, which intertwine with hints of cinnamon and tobacco due to the passage in wood. In the mouth it is round, elegant, with spicy tannins and a nice long and persistent finish. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18-20 °C, taking care to decant the particularly aged bottles.
