Viognier Maremma Toscana DOC
Viognier is native grape of the Rhone valley, in France and it has found its habitat in the warm climate of Tuscany region. This version proposed by Fattoria San Felo is deliciously fresh, thanks to very lush and crispy fruit.
Grapes are harvested once they have reached the ideal maturity, generally between the end of August and mid-September. The vinification process begins with soft pressing of the whole bunches; the must ferments in tanks at a controlled temperature up to a maximum of 18 °C. It follows the aging on vinification yeasts for about 1 month, always in the same tanks. After refrigeration at 0 °C and filtration, the wine is bottled by the February following the harvest.
It has a pale straw-white colour. Beautiful flowery nose, hints of elderberry and white pulp fruits. Medium body, soft taste, full, balanced with a discreet elegance and crisp at the same time, very refreshing, extremely pleasant to drink. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 11-13 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Fattoria San Felo's Viognier is an excellent white wine to combine with white fish, white meats, also perfect as aperitif. Because of its freshness and delicate aromas, it is also an excellent companion for spicy oriental dishes, especially if curry based, or sushi. The combination with fois-gras is very interesting.
Fattoria San Felo
The passion for the cultivation of the wine, the attachment to traditions, coupled with the desire to provide a modest but still significant contribution to the promotion of the Maremma, made it possible in 2001 to the family Vanni, to realize a dream: to found the company "San Felo", a wonderful farm located in the heart of "the land of Butteri", right on the summit of Poggio la Mozza, a few kilometers from Grosseto. The San Felo Company has invested heavily on the future creating a cellar of over 1000 square meters and whose extension works have not yet been completed.
