Il Tornese Romagna DOC
Il Tornese of Drei Donà winery - Tenuta La Palazza is a special white wine made from 50% Riesling and 50% Chardonnay grape, cultivated in the estate vineyards. Ii is undoubtedly "The White" of Drei Donà winery, "white exception" of a great red terroir. Most of the grapes are fermented separately under controlled temperature in stainless steel, while about 15% of the Chardonnay is fermented in French oak barrels. After the blend, the wine is bottled and aged for another 10 months in bottle.
Il Tornese is a wine of great elegance and remarkable structure, although a young age, which gives a good acidity.
The recommended food-matching is the typical fried Adriatic fishes. When the wines is aged, it is excellent with grilled St. Peter's fish or with a classic salt sea bass, but also rabbit and chicken terrines.
Drei Donà - Tenuta La Palazza
The Drei Donà estate is located in the ancient Romagnan hills between the towns of Forlì, Castrocaro and Predappio. The ‘La Palazza’ farmhouse was built around a watchtower constructed by Caterina Sforza in 1481 in a strategic position on the gentle slopes of Massa di Vecchiazzano to defend her lands. The property has been in the hands of the Drei Donà family since the last century, and although it has always been dedicated to producing Sangiovese grapes, it has undergone a radical transformation under the present owner, Count Claudio Drei Donà.
