Lighea is characterized by the great Mediterranean aromatic power, the fruit of Pantelleria's heroic viticulture. In fact, this is 100% Zibibbo (Moscato di Alessandria), cultivated exactly on the island of Pantelleria and here the vineyards adorn the shores thanks to their typical low alberello pantesco. The low bush vine of Pantelleria has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a “creative and sustainable” practice.
The fermentation of Zibibbo grapes is made in steel at a temperature of 14-16 °C, while the aging process takes place in a tanks for 2 months and 3 months in the bottle.
The famous label on this bottle depicts Lighea, the bewitching mermaid character of a tale by Giuseppe Tomasi of Lampedusa, who described her as "from the disheveled tresses the color of the sun, seawater flowed over the green, wide-open eyes". From here cames the inspiration and the idea for this complex and innovative wine and for its equally original label.
It has a brilliant straw yellow color with greenish undertones. The nose offers a rich and fragrant bouquet with classic notes of orange blossom combined with scents of saturn peaches and Mediterranean scrub. The nose is perfectly reflected on the palate, enlivened by a fresh mineral vein. We recommend serving it at 9-11 °C, uncorking it at the time of pouring.
