Angheli Sicilia DOC
Donnafugata's Angheli is an international red wine grown on the Sicilian territory around Contessa Entellina Estate and made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The harvest is manual, with a careful selection of the grapes directly in the vineyard, starting at the end of August with Merlot and ending around mid-September with Cabernet. After a second selection and de-stemming, grapes ferment in steel with maceration on the skins for about 11-13 days at a temperature of 28 °C. The wine is then refined in barriques and second-passage French oak barrels for about 12 months and at least another 2 years in the bottle.
Angheli is a ruby red wine. Fragrant aromas of red fruits, especially blackberry and plum, combined with intense balsamic and spicy hints of chocolate and licorice. In the mouth it is enchanting, thanks to its soft tannins and finishing in good persistence. Great balance between structure and pleasure, able to age up to 8 years. We suggest to serve it at a temperature of 18 °C.
