Vermentino Toscana IGT Col D'Orcia
Col d'Orcia's Vermentino is a pure Tuscan Vermentino, coming from vineyards located on alluvial terraces overlooking the Orcia and Ombrone rivers, at the foot of Sant'Angelo in Colle hill, in the area of Montalcino. After manual harvesting with rigorous selection of the bunches in the early morning hours to avoid excessively high temperatures, all Vermentino grapes are chilled at 8-10 °C. After soft pressing with separation of the free-run must, the wine ferments for 10-12 days at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C. It refines on fine lees in stainless steel tanks until bottling.
Straw-yellow colour with greenish undertones, with an intense bouquet of floral and fruity note, which are typical of Tuscan Vermentino. On the palate it is fresh and pleasantly fruity. It has a long and persistent aftertaste. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 10-12 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Col d'Orcia's Vermentino is a Tuscan white wine with an excellent structure, therefore able to pair white meat or medium-aged cheese, as well as fish and vegetarian dishes such as stuffed zucchini flowers, artichokes, aubergine.
Col d’Orcia is one of the oldest established wineries of Montalcino. The archaeological excavations show that the slopes of Orcia River were inhabited since the Etruscans, over 2500 years ago. Some olive trees among the Brunello vineyards prove all favourable conditions of Col d'Orcia’s climate and soil for growing grapes and olives.
