Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Tenute Silvio Nardi
Silvio Nardi's Brunello di Montalcino is a fine Brunello which is able to capture the variegated notes of different terroirs. A wine from Sangiovese "Pure-Noble", whose soft delicacy comes after a gentle refinement. The Sangiovese grapes come from several vineyards located in the municipality of Montalcino, with a North-West / South-East exposure at about 350 m above sea level. After careful manual harvesting, fermentation and maceration take place for at least 20 days, depending on the parcel, at a controlled temperature of less than 30 °C. The wine ages for 12 months in Allier French oak barriques of second passage, and a further 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. The aging is completed in the bottle for at least 6 months, reaching the optimal softness.
Deep ruby red with garnet undertones. It opens to the nose a clean, elegant, intense and complex aroma, rich in ethereal scents, with notes of anise, ripe berries and a light touch of vanilla. Warm and enveloping flavour, with soft tannins and great structure, good persistence and remarkable aging potential. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 18-20 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Silvio Nardi's Brunello di Montalcino is the perfect Tuscan red wine to combine with typical Tuscan dishes, from Fiorentina steak to "pici" pasta with meat sauce, as well as cured meats and aged cheeses, such as Pecorino di Pienza or Parmigiano Reggiano.
Tenute Silvio Nardi
The history of Silvio Nardi winery is linked to the history of Brunello di Montalcino. Evertyhing started in the fifties, when Silvio Nardi - owner in Altotevere Umbro of one of the first not only Italian companies of agricultural machinery, founded in 1895 - bought the estate of Casale del Bosco in Montalcino. The first "foreigner" to invest in the wine sector in Montalcino, still an unknown country, Silvio Nardi baptizes the first bottle of Brunello from the cellars of Casale del Bosco.
