Tortoniano Barolo DOCG
Michele Chiarlo's Tortoniano Barolo gets its name from the geological area "Tortoniana", that between the municipalities of La Morra and Barolo, as part of the grapes used for the production of this Barolo comes from Cerequio's CRU and part of the surrounding vineyards. Tortoniano soil is marly sedimentary clay with streaks of grey-blue sandstone which give the Barolo a great elegance that imparts a complex spicy aroma and a rich flavour with very nice tannins at the end.
At manual harvest of the grapes follows maceration in contact with the skins for 17-18 days and the soft wetting of the cap with the "shower" system at a temperature between 32 and 27 °C. Malolactic fermentation takes place in steel and the wine refines a minimum of 3 years, maturing 24 months in medium and large capacity barrels, before completing the aging in the bottle.
Garnet colour with brilliant hues. Enveloping and complex aromas of rose petals, juniper berries and fine spices. Taste is ample, body has a good structure, thanks to a texture of silky tannins, which surprises and gives harmony already in the juvenile phase. Remarkable elegance and persistence in the finish. We suggest serving it at a temperature of 17-18 °C.
FOOD MATCHING SUGGESTIONS
Michele Chiarlo's Tortoniano Barolo pairs well with fettuccini with porcini and all dishes made of mushrooms in general, in addition to the traditional Barolo stew, game - especially pigeon - and medium-aged cheese.

Michele Chiarlo: four generations of winemakers in the land of Piedmont, four production areas (Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi) for the four historical, traditional Piedmontese vines (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese and Moscato), vinified in four different styles. But the only one is the spirit that has always revealed itself in all the expressions of Chiarlo: from inside the glass to the great events in artistic location, from the family’s work within the company to the worldwide promotional tours, from the culture of books and of the Barolo Caveau to the convivial pleasure
