Cascina Giovinale is an old farmhouse already mentioned in the chronicles of the late nineteenth century, which inspired Anna and Bruno Ciocca, both "nicesi" and with a great love for the territory. Anna and Bruno decide prodcing high quality wines exclusively with grapes of their own vineyards, enhancing their characteristics and identity. Thus, in the '80s, the farm was founded, with 7 hectares of vineyards and a winery in Nizza Monferrato, on the top of the San Nicolao hill.
The carefully selected grapes of Cascina Giovinale are used for the creation of wines with limited bottles production. Refined and pleasant wines, persuasive but complex, which have the scent and the character of the Barbera made with care and passion, in a territory of excellence, today partof the UNESCO heritage.
Within the wider DOC Barbera d'Asti, an area of excellence has been officially recognized called "Nizza" restricted to a limited number of municipalities, with very strict restrictions on the cultivation and oenological rules, to maintain high quality standards (yield per hectare is lower than that of Barolo). The vineyards of Cascina Giovinale are in the "Nizza" area and the wines produced by the winery after more than 18 months of aging, represents one of the best expressions of this classification.
